Every once in a while, I have a happy accident when I'm playing around with a new technique. These earrings are a perfect example of that. While trying to modify the Heavy Metal Oval Earrings to make them a bit more three-dimensional, I came up with a highly structured hoop shape. I kept going with it and these really cool earrings were born.
Each earring is handwoven using Czech glass beads in silver, matte gold, and shiny gunmetal. They measure about 3/4 inch in width, 1 inch in depth, and about 2 inches in length. The tension from the beadweaving keeps the shape very rigid, so these earrings really give the illusion you are wearing metal hoops.
The ear wires are sterling silver.
