The Tucson Vista Necklace was featured on the cover of Beadwork magazine's August/September 2017 issue with the bracelet listed as a variation. As I was taking the pieces to various shows and festivals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I was getting requests for a simplified, more casual version of the set featuring the warm color palette with Swarovski crystals. And thus the Southwest Sunset collection was born.
Although this project includes step by step instructions with a photo for each step, knowledge of working with a needle and thread is required. Simple techniques like threading a needle or tying a knot will not be covered. This project utilizes a combination of circular brick stitch and cross-weaving techniques.
To complete this project, you will need the following materials:
12mm Crystal Golden Shadow Swarovski Rivoli - 1 piece
SuperDuos in Pastel Bordeaux - 20 pieces
SuperDuos in Pastel Petrol - 10 pieces
SuperDuos in Crystal Bronze Fire Red - 20 pieces
SuperDuos in Crystal Bronze Pale Gold - 4g to 5g
Miyuki 11/0 Seed Beads in Galvanized Gold - about 1/4g
6Lb Beading Thread
NOTE: You can use monofilament (illusion) cord and glue instead of needles and thread to create this ring. It will give it a more structured feel. There are instructions and suggestions for working with this material on the last page of the PDF.
